Happy New Year!!!!

I know that here in the Midwest it's still 2010 but it's almost 2011 and out East it's already 2011 so I figured it wasn't to soon to tell everyone HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you all had a great 2010 and that you all have a wonderful 2011!!!!!! And that if you stayed up late so you could ring in the new year that you don't sleep the hole day away!!! ;D

I know, Christmas is almost done, but I've been gone since Thursday so....even if probably no one will see this till after Christmas I thought I'd still get on here and wish everyone a Very Very Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!! And I hope you all had a wonderful day!!!!

The finished Regency Dress

And here is the Regency Dress all finished!! the flower isn't part of the dress but I wore it with it. lol anyway So I finished it on Friday and wore it Saturday night, it was pretty fun to wear but it was also annoying because the sleeves made it hard to move my arms around much. Oh well I didn't have it as bad as some people who had tighter sleeves (say um...Rene?). Hope you enjoy the pix! :)

Regency dress

So this is sorta what the dress looks like right now. Well actually not exactly because these pix are from like a week ago but anyway, theses pictures are of the dress, it's not actually sewn together. but the bodice is done and the skirt peaces are sewn together. Then the other one is when I was cutting the lining out. I had to lay it out on the floor because it was the only thing long enough! And I had a couple problems with it because it was cut wrong so it wasn't long enough for the peaces so I sorta didn't cut them right but anyway! Now I have the lining sewn to the skirt so it's almost time to sew the bodice to the skirt! And I have one week to finish it! Which is scary because I'm not sure I can actually get it done...

And an update on Rosana's dress: well there isn't really anything to update because, I was going to work on but then realized I'd never washed the fabric so i couldn't cut it out yet.

sewing news

So...After I finished the Civil War dress I thought I wouldn't sew anything more for a while. At least not anything big. But then I decided to sew a Regency dress for a home-school ball that we're planing to go to (December 11th) and THEN to add to stuff my sister was asked to be in a wedding and had to find a dress (the bride just told her to find a dress she liked and then told her a color and a length) well, she couldn't find one she really liked that was both the right color and the right length so someone had the idea that I could make a dress so we went and found a pattern and fabric and so now I have to make a bridesmaid dress and it needs finished by January 15th. I should actually have it done at least a week before that so that if I need to take it in somewhere or anything I'll have a little time to do it. Probably it should be done before then even but we'll see. The pattern we got isn't specifically a bridesmaid dress but it'll work! And my sister saw it and loved it so hopefully she'll like it just as much in red! But with Thanksgiving and Christmas and other things happening I'm kinda scared I won't be able to get both the dresses done, I'll make sure I get the bridesmaid dress done even if I stay up till midnight sewing every night till I get it done! Hopefully it won't be too hard! It looks pretty simple and I really like the dress!! It's soo pretty!! And I promise pix of both of the dresses when I'm done sewing them, maybe even some pix of while I'm sewing them! And this time maybe I'll get pix before months and months after I'm done! (Sorry I still don't have any of the Civil War dress! :( )

To see the Regency dress pattern click here I'm doing dress B only with dress A's sleeves and it'll be brown with a cream sash. The bodice is actually mostly done but the sleeves and skirt are not!! I started on the sleeves but only got a little done.

...I thought I'd show you my first big sewing project. It was about three years ago, we were going to an American Revolutionary War ball. Well actually I think they called it a George Washington Ball but w/e. So my sister and I were going to make dresses, I got mine done on the day of the ball actually like right before we left and really my mom did a lot of the work!! She did all the hard work at least! Most the trim and the zipper (so not authentic!) and the hem, she helped me with everything else and when I simply couldn't get it she would step in and do it. I did learn a lot while sewing it and had some fun while I was at it! :) That was really when I fell in love with sewing.

hey! So I made a comment for Preciosa's post about her sewing project she did yesterday , saying I would have someone take a couple pictures of me wearing the cloak i made (w/ help, LOL...) last year. I wanted an "Elven" cloak like the ones the Fellowship wear in LOTR. We found a pattern online...and so here it is!!! It's hard to see in the picture on top but I have one of those Elven brooches, movie style, that I got on ebay. Can't have an elven cloak w/o the brooch, right? It's incomplete w/o it!!!!

Sewing

Is anyone else shocked? Another post! The day after the last post!! :-o

Anyway! So this is a fun sewing project I did today! We had this old skirt that wasn't in to great of shape for wearing because most the buttons were ripping out but for the most part it was in fine shape.

So Hannah had used it for a cape thing way back when a long time ago when she would play dress up, I probably did too but it was in her closet so it was her's (also she did it more then I did...). So when we were going threw dress up stuff I decided it really wouldn't be super hard to turn that skirt into a cape, it would just need a little work at the top and the buttons had to go! And so it ended up on floor for a week or so and then I was bored and so why not? I got to work and tried a few different things to make it cape like and believe it or not soon that skirt was a cape!

It could be better but remember it's made from an old skirt. A hood would be cool but we didn't have any fabric that was the same as the skirt, so that hooded cape Hannah has always wanted will have to wait... but now that I know how simple and fun it is to play around with old clothes and make them "new", maybe there will be some more posts about old cloth being transformed into cool new things.

And as to my last sewing project, the civil war dress, well that's finished...or it was. I didn't ever do the button holes but I had everything else done for the reenactment and it was fun to wear! But when we got home the under sleeves and collar came off so that the dress could be washed without the white turning green. Now I just need to sew the button holes and then sew the sleeves and collar back on and get some pictures up for you all! :) Hopefully I'll get it all done soon!

Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader

So Narnia fans, excited yet? Voyage comes out in three months! Less actually... I just don't feel like figuring out how long... I was going to find you all a count down thing for it but couldn't. ANYWAY So although I have never read the books and don't plan to, I really like the Walden movies! And although a lot of people are complaining about the trailer and how it doesn't look like it will follow the book and all but I don't really care, I think it will be a good movie, if not I'll still like Prince Caspian.

There is one thing....King Caspian? He'll always be a prince in my mind. And I'll have to get used to Ben with a beard! Weirdness! And I'm really sad about him not doing the accent! It's pretty stupid too how he's just dropping it. And everyone else too! I mean, really? What do you think?

Anyway Yeah this is getting longer then I thought it would be since I'm really just talking about Voyage because I was saying something about how I never post and then Katy was like that I could talk about Voyage, so yeah... Any other Narnia fans have something they want to say??

Bacon

I know, what could possibly be more random then bacon? But hey! I'm feeling random and I was craving bacon! And actually i have no idea what I was going to say about bacon...

So since that topic is sorta pointless, I'll change the subject.

So instead of bacon I'll give you all a pic!

That is me in the skirt for my civil war dress which I am making and have a week and a half to finish (AAHHHHH!) If you hadn't guessed the skirt is WAY to long!!! We have to take about a foot off of it just to have it short enough to have it such that we could hem it!! ;D

Well anyway, yeah, I'm actually not feeling so random now... but anyway ttul!

So anyway sorry that i NEVER post or anything but hey I didn't even make this thing so you can't expect me to be on it ALL the time or anything, now can you?

Also I am kinda busy and we didn't have internet for a few days, school just started back up full time and I only have a month to finish sewing my civil war dress and read half a book (if you're wondering half the book is 210 pages), oh yeah and I have 3 weeks and one day to master the art of driving (actually more since I can't take the test right away), manly it's the parking, namely parallel parking (yuck! I already smashed a few cars trying, thankfully they were imaginary cars...) and so yeah I have a lot going on. I forgot to say that I was gone for a week and a weekend and then we had people coming over the last two weekends and so I was cleaning and yeah never mind.

All in all this is turning into a VERY boring post so I think I have the right title!

Anyhow, expect some new stuff soon! Hopefully...

Hello everyone!

Hey so... this is weird! So it's like this. I get on my Blogger Dashboard or w/e and find that I have a blog! Not only do I have a blog but I have a blog that I didn't know about!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean yeah I knew that I'm sorta out of the loop sometimes but how do you not know you have a blog??? Here's what I think is going on. Well okay so here's more then one thing that I think might be going on. 1) I forget to sign out of e-mail and someone else (my sister...?) got on and found that my e-mail was open and then made a blog. 2) Someone (again, my sister...?) hacked onto my e-mail and made a blog. 3) I made it and forgot. (Not likely but it could happen...right?)' Any ideas? Or MAYBE someone has a confession to make! Anyway to everyone that reads this: It'll probably be gone in a couple of days... Update: btw if you're wondering, my sister admitted to making the blog.
